Routr is a route planner for couriers, run by Aida Vantage, Nigeria (“we”). This page explains what Routr collects, why, who else handles it, and what you can ask us to do with it. Questions go to hello@goroutr.com.
Routr isn’t open to the public yet. This policy covers this website, the waitlist, the tracking pages customers open, and the Routr app while it’s being tested.
The website and the waitlist
- If you join the waitlist, we store your email address, which form you used and when. We use it only to tell you when Routr launches. We don’t sell it or share it with anyone for marketing.
- The site sets no cookies and runs no advertising or analytics trackers. If you switch it to dark mode, your browser remembers that choice on your device; it isn’t sent to us. Its fonts come from Google Fonts, so your browser connects to Google to load them, and our host (Google Firebase Hosting) keeps standard server logs.
- To come off the waitlist, email us and we’ll delete your address.
If you ride with Routr
- Your account
- Your name, email address or phone number, depending on how you sign in (Google, your email and a password, or a code sent to your phone; Firebase keeps only a scrambled form of a password, which we never see); whether you’re a courier or a business owner; your vehicle type; and, for business owners, the business name.
- Your routes
- The stops you add (addresses, house numbers, map coordinates, and any notes, recipient names or phone numbers you enter), the order Routr suggests, distances and times, what happened at each stop (delivered, or why it wasn’t), and the proof-of-delivery photos you take.
- Your location
- Routr uses your phone’s precise location while the app is open, to plan from where you are and show you on the map. While a route is running, it saves your position about every five seconds to that route, and to the tracking link of the stop you’re riding to (see below). When you mark a stop delivered or not delivered, it saves where you were at that moment with the stop. If you work for a business and go on duty, Routr keeps using your location in the background until you go off duty, to show that business where you are (see “If you join a business”).
- If you join a business
- When you join a business with its invite code, that business sees your name, email or phone number and vehicle, and the routes you run from then on: the stops, what happened at each, and where you are while a route is running. Your routes from before you joined stay yours. You can leave in Settings at any time, and the business can remove you; routes you ran for it stay with it. They also stay with it if you delete your account, as the business’s delivery record, with their delivery photos but without your name or your account.
- On duty
- If you work for a business, you choose when you’re on duty with a switch in the app; starting a route switches it on. While you’re on duty between routes, that business sees where you are, updated after you’ve moved about 150 metres. (On a route it sees where you are anyway, as described above.) When you go off duty, it keeps only the area you were last in (about 500 metres across) and the time, never the exact spot. Only the latest is kept, never a history of where you’ve been. If you’re on duty for two hours without a route and barely moving, the app asks whether you’re still on duty, and after twelve hours it switches you off by itself.
- How you use the app
- Which screens and features you use, with your phone’s model, operating system, app version and language, so we can fix problems and improve Routr. We use this ourselves. It isn’t sold or used for advertising.
- Notifications
- A device token, so we can send you notifications.
- Scanning and voice
- When you scan a printed list, the text is read on your phone. When you say an address, your phone’s speech service (from Apple or Google) turns it into text, and Routr receives the text.
If you were sent a tracking link
A courier using Routr sent you a link for your delivery or pickup. The page behind it holds your stop only: the address, how many stops are before yours, an estimated arrival time, what happened, the courier’s first name and vehicle type, and the courier’s location only while yours is the next stop. It never shows other customers’ stops. Anyone with the link can open it, so share it only with people you trust.
The courier chooses how to send the link, for example on WhatsApp, and that service handles the message under its own policy. Your address, and your phone number if the courier added it, are also kept in the courier’s route in the app.
Who else handles data
- Google Firebase for sign-in, the database, photo storage, hosting and notifications. Our database is in Google Cloud’s European multi-region and delivery photos are stored in Belgium; other Firebase services may process data elsewhere.
- Google Maps Platform for address search, routes and maps. The addresses you search for and the stops being planned are sent to Google to find places and work out routes. A location a customer shares as coordinates or a plus code is read on your phone and isn’t looked up; a short Google Maps link (maps.app.goo.gl) is opened from your phone to see where it points, as when you open any link.
- Apple or Google speech services, if you use voice entry.
We don’t sell personal data.
How long we keep it
- Map positions from Google: a stop’s map position and the line of the route come from Google Maps, whose terms let us keep them for 30 days. We remove them from your routes 29 days after a route starts; the addresses, what happened at each stop and where you were when you handled it stay. Places you save in the app are looked up again on Google after 29 days.
- Account and route data: while your account is open. To delete it, open the app and go to Settings, then Delete account. That deletes, straight away, your profile and sign-in, your own routes and stops with their delivery photos, the tracking links you’ve sent (they stop opening), your notifications and the records of how you used the app, and the app clears what it kept on your phone. If you own a business, the business and its settings go too; couriers linked to it keep their own accounts and records. Routes you ran for a business you belonged to stay with that business, without your name (see “If you join a business”). We keep only a monthly count of deleted accounts, which names no one. If you can’t use the app, email us and we’ll delete your account for you.
- Waitlist emails: until you ask us to remove yours. Deleting your account also removes the waitlist sign-up made with the same email address.
- Tracking pages: the courier’s location comes off a customer’s page as soon as that stop is done.
- On duty: only your latest spot, replaced by the area and the time when you go off duty, and deleted when you leave the business, are removed from it, or delete your account.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, for example under Nigeria’s Data Protection Act 2023 or the GDPR in the EU and UK, you can ask to see the personal data we hold about you, correct it, delete it, get a copy, or object to how we use it. Email hello@goroutr.com and we’ll answer within the time the law requires. If you’re unhappy with our answer, you can complain to the Nigeria Data Protection Commission or to your local data protection authority.
Age
Routr is for people aged 18 or over. We don’t knowingly collect data from children.
Changes
If we change this policy, we’ll update the date at the top, and tell app users about significant changes in the app.
